Located on Lookout Mountain in Dade County Georgia, Lookout Highlands is a community of woods, lakes and natural beauty but has proximity to “civilization”. Chattanooga is a 35-minute drive and Birmingham, Nashville, and Atlanta are about a 2-hour drive. Access to Interstate 59 is only 15 minutes away and I-24 is another 7 miles. The closest city is Trenton, GA, a small town at the foot of the mountain with two medical clinics, three grocery stores, several restaurants, fast food and a great coffee shop.

You don’t have to leave the mountain for a great choice of restaurants from a quick hamburger at Canyon Quick Stop to meat-and-three country cooking at Cafe 136 to slow-smoked BBQ at Trading Post Smokehouse to Canyon Grill, a 5-star restaurant with fresh seafood and a delicious filet mignon cooked over a wood-fire grill.
Attractions
One of the largest and most beautiful parks in the entire state of Georgia is located nearby – Cloudland Canyon State Park. From beginner to advanced hiking trails, camping sites, and cottage rentals you’ll be sure to enjoy your time connecting with nature.
Rich in civil war history, the Chattanooga area features the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park, a section of which is located on Lookout Mountain. You’ll want to visit Point Park and take in the expansive views while learning more about the role that Chattanooga played in the Civil War.
The area has its share of family entertainment choices. Perhaps most famous is Rock City, known for Lover’s Leap, Mother Goose Village, and the “See Seven States” vantage point. Also well known are Ruby Falls, which now features a zip-line nearby, and the Incline Railway, one of the steepest incline railways in the world.
